The second year offers flexibility to the student. Depending on the specialization and interests of the participant, subjects and location of study can be chosen either in the student's home country or at one of the collaborating EuMaG universities. The second year is divided in two parts, both encompassing a full semester.
The first semester is meant for specialization. Students can follow modules of their choice from a catalogue of courses offered by all universities in the EuMaG network. This gives students the freedom to either study in their own country or to travel to one or more different countries. The free modules should add to a total of 20 ECTS.
The second semester is entirely reserved for the Master's thesis. During the summerschool at the end of their first year, students present a proposal for their Master's thesis. The proposals are discussed and students get feedback on their plans. Subsequently, the final thesis proposal is handed in to the EuMaG Thesis Committee, who assigns two supervisors to the student. Usually one of the supervisors is from the participant's home country. The Master's thesis will be presented during the summerschool of the participant's second and final year. The Master's thesis equals 25 ECTS.
