Participants in the European Masters in Gerontology have very different backgrounds in terms of culture, age, profession and education. Our students see this diversity as one of the programme's major strenghts, and a great opportunity to share and exchange experiences, policies and views.
Meet some of our students! Marieke Boon (The Netherlands): What a change to study gerontology with a multidisciplinary perspective and to be taught by specialists from different universities! It is exciting to study in several European cities and to meet students from many different countries. Having worked for the elderly before, it is my wish to find a job where I can be involved in policy-making for older people. EuMaG seemed a good investment for this. The program offers me more theoretical knowledge about older people and about policies in various European countries. The quality of the courses is very high, and the teaching staff is very dedicated. There is always a lot of discussion and exchange in the group. I learned a lot in one year.

 | Ralf Lottmann (Germany): What I appreciate most in EuMaG is the chance to work interculturally and to learn from people who grew up in different countries. I like the way we support each other and it is always exciting to be confronted with other cultural backgrounds. Participating in this European program is also very useful for my job in the German "Bundestag", working for a member of parliament focusing on the policy for senior citizens and aspects of demographic change. What is more, EuMaG is a Masters accepted around the world and I hope this will help to fulfill my wish to work internationally, for example in new intergenerational projects. |
Pornchai Jullamate (Thailand): While working on my PhD in nursing in Portugal, I also follow the European Masters in Gerontology. I think it is a fantastic and wonderful programme. Not only do I gain more knowledge, but I also get a lot of new experiences by travelling around and learning about the ageing society in Europe. I feel I strengthen and broaden my gerontology perspective by discussions and exchange with my fellow students and all the expert lecturers. I hope to share all of this when teaching my own master students in the future.
