Within University of Iceland there are now three teaching positions within gerontology. There are associate professors of geriatric medicine and geriatric nursing and an assistant professor of sociology.
The University and the university hospital are linked in gerontology through the Gerontological Research Institute. The teaching is at the undergraduate level and in addition there are several studies carried out at any point in time.

P谩lmi V. J贸nsson, MD, FACP. Currently 50 years of age and a married father of four children. He serves as Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Iceland, and is also Chief of Geriatrics at Landspitali University Hospital.
