The Italian National Research Council (CNR) is a public organization of great relevance in the field of scientific and technological research, comprising 108 research institutes distributed all over Italy.
The research activities of the Institute of Neuroscience-Padova aging unit deal with different prospectives of the evaluation of the health status among the elderly. In particular the ongoing projects concern: 1) Cross-national comparisons of determinants of quality of life and health services for the elderly among six european countries. This european project focuses on
* the assessment of the predictors of major health outcomes (mortality, hospitalization, institutionalization, disability) * the assessment of the impact of differences in health services provision * assessment of the relation between functional status and health services use * assessment of the impact of the social networks on the health status
2) National comparison of the health status: identification and evaluation of health indicators (disability adjusted life years) among 3 Italian regions for cardiovascular conditions; 3) Pharmacogenetics of Alzheimer's disease: evaluation of genetics markers correlated to the positive or negative response to the pharmacological teraphy; 4) Italian Longitudinal study on aging: investigation of cardiovascular, diabetics and neurological conditions among 5632 elderly in relation to demographic, clinical and biological characteirstics; 5)National registers on dementia and bone fractures. |
